The new release of the top-level domain .nz represents a great opportunity for you to secure a shorter, more easily remembered URL that can be used for both websites and email.



New Zealand has long had a proud history of innovation, and is often used as a test market for emerging technologies such as electronic funds transfer at point-of-purchase (eftpos).  This new top-level domain represents a fantastic opportunity for both New Zealanders and global firms to claim there right to use their desired domain in this part of the Internet.



For existing .nz second-level domain registrants, you will fall into one of three categories, with varying rights for either priority reservation/registration, available registration, or conflicted status. The video below explains this in a little bit more detail:

Billing Cycles

New Zealand domains can have up to a maximum of 10 years of registration. Renewals are due when the domain expires based on the number of years of registration.



Renewals

New Zealand Domains are renewed based on the above billing cycle at our normal domain registration prices. New Zealand Domains can now be renewed up to a maximum of 10 years.



Transfers

Transfers are FREE for all New Zealand domain name holders wishing to transfer to Instra Corporation. When your domain is transferred the Billing Cycle you are currently on is unchanged.



Domain Password (UDAI)

All New Zealand domains have a unique password of letters and numbers. This password called a UDAI. It is required to make changes to the domain name and transfer the domain name. Should any .nz registrant of Instra Corporation be unable to find the UDAI or feel your security may of been compromised, then we can generate a new UDAI for you and email it. This will by default go to admin contact listed in the .nz registry. Should the email address be incorrect that is in the WHOIS, then we will require a fax on a signed company letterhead from an authorised person within your organisation.
